I was looking at old pictures of our 2010 vacation in Japan and it brought me back a lot of great memories from that trip.The kids were excited to go to Japan mainly because they had the Pokemon store as their number one must-visit place while over there. Hence, going to Tokyo Disney wasn’t something they looked forward to. They thought, ‘once you’ve seen one Disneyland, you’ve seen them all’. Right? Wrong!
We have been to all the Disney parks in the USA and its international locations such as Paris and Hong Kong but nothing compares to Tokyo. It’s not the park itself that makes the difference– it’s the people. The Japanese really love Disney!
However, what sets Tokyo park apart from the other Disney parks is Tokyo Disney Sea. It opened on September 4, 2001–the year we moved from Japan back to the States. But before we left in November of that year, we visited Tokyo Disney Sea. I thought then that Disney did an amazing job with the park and although it didn’t have all the aspects of Disney (not seeing many of the characters), it was still one of the best Disney parks I’ve been to (second to Epcot, my favorite of them all).
I couldn’t wait to show the park to the boys nine years later.

Although Tokyo Disney Sea is really a theme park more suitable for adults, the kids still had a blast! My best friend, Kaori, together with her daughter Lisa, joined us.
One of the park’s attractions is the flavored popcorns! It is unfortunate that I didn’t have photos of any of the carts but my friend who recently visited Disney Sea last month sent me a map of the park. Here are the different flavors of popcorns.
My favorite, as I recall, was the Milk Tea. Joshua liked the Curry flavor.
There were several cool restaurants to go to. As you can imagine, they do food exceptionally well in Japan. Since we spent a great deal of time in the Arabian coast, we decided to eat lunch there.
Dinner was at Restaurant Sakura at the American Waterfront. We had the usual Japanese food such as tempura, udon, and tonkatsu.
Going to a Disney park in Japan is a totally different experience. It is like no other. There, it is truly the happiest place on earth!
